He is of an old race, known as the Kassid. The Kassid and the DarkChildren are of one race, the Kassid having built fortresses in the Mountains whilst the Children remained in villages as bands of Gypsy.  The Kassid are more ancient.  The DarkChildren are the Family of Bete and Dust, thus named by humans due to their dark nature, or what is thought to be such.  Kassid is the true name of the DarkChildren, their abilities  identical.

In human form, Kieran is 6'5" with black hair that has a thin streak of white. His eyes are amber.  It is rare that he speaks, finding verbal language useless and burdensome. When his voice is heard, it is low and deep, the words spoken are more felt than heard.  He is Bete's mate, the Father of Cyradis and Faustine.  In wolf form, he is a black wolf with a white star on his chest and golden eyes; he leads the nightly Hunts.
